【Culture experience】Let's Make a Cup of O-cha !!
When come to Japan for sightseeing, we usually go to famous place or eat delicious food.
Now I want to show you another way to know more about Japan, to join an experience event!!
This time, I went to a corporation which helps foreigners in Japan call “HIRAGANA NET” to join the O-cha(Japanese tea) experience event.
I like tea a lot.
I can make delicious black tea or flowering tea. But when it comes to making O-cha, I never make it delicious even once.
Last week, I saw this experience event’s information on HIRAGANA NET’s website,
so I sign up immediately.
Teacher teach us to make O-cha is crew of ITOUEN, which is famous for making tea and drinks. After the professional lesson, I think it really improved my skill to making O-cha.
Teacher is very kind and teach will.
The knowledge of tea, from history of tea to the relation of tea’s flavor and temperature is all on the color handouts.
After teacher’s introduction, it’s time to try ourselves!
Today we use tealeaf which add some Macha in it that it has very good smell.
We make hot tea first with tow different way.
One is to put hot water to tea cups first then put it into teapot, another is to put hot water into teapot directly.
Before I drink tea make from different way, I was thought that no matter how we change the way to make tea, the flavor will still same if use same tea leaf.
But tea’s taste is really changed!!
Tea on the right side is make by ways put water in tea cups first, and tea on the left is make by water put into teapot directly.
color of tea on the left is more dark than on the right one.
Tea on the right is clear and light green.
I try a sip each tea.
Right one is mellow and less astringent.
The left one...just like what I usually made, full of bitter and astringent.
Teacher has said that different temperature of water will makes tea become different taste. More hot the water, then more bitter and astringent the tea will tasted.
But it’s not mistake that you use water in high temperature to make tea. The reason is that caffeine and Catechin, witch good for health will release from the leaf in high temperature.
You can choose which kind of tea you want to change the way you make tea.
Then, we learned how to make ice tea.
I didn’t know that Japanese tea can make ice tea either before. In animations or comics I have saw, tea in them are almost hot so I really surprised about that.
The way to make ice tea is also easy.
Just put cold water and ice in teapot and wait for three minutes.
Ice tea is more clear and the color is lighter than hot tea.
The taste is more mellow too.
I forgot to take picture of ice tea but I take all kinds of way of making O-cha.
If you would like to try to make Japanese tea, whatch it!
I hope you enjoy it.
I not only learn the knowledge of making O-cha but also know foreigners who in Japan. I talked with them for awhile and had a good time with them. In Japan, there has many foreigners live, study or work in Japan. Make a lot of new friends from different country in this event is make me so happy and glad I sing up this event.
